Healthy Fertility

Being conscious about the choices you make when becoming a parent is one of the most compassionate & loving decisions you can do for your unborn child.  It is important to be informed about what is meant by healthy fertility and why it is important for both partners to be prepared.
Being prepared for a healthy pregnancy should involve a review of diet and lifestyle for both Partners.

For women, there are a several ways in which to predict when they are most fertile.  Some of the ways include; the Billings Method, charting Basel Body Temperature (BBT), monitoring cervical fluids and noting position and properties of the cervix.  There are also women who experience signs and symptoms of ovulation.

For men, fertility is dependant on the quality of  sperm.

Tips for healthy fertility;

  • Taking a multivitamin especially formulated for pre-pregnancy [i.e. elevit].
  • Taking a good quality Fish Oil i.e. Ultra Clean EPA/DHA Plus, as it promotes correct nervous system structure
  • Having Zinc tests at the end of each trimester - zinc is required for brain development & is a simple taste test - ask us in-store
  • Seek advice from your health care professional i.e. Naturopath, Pharmacist and your Doctor
  • Adequate protein is very important prior to and during pregnancy
  • Eat good sources of folate; dark green leafy vegetables, berries, nuts, cereals beans
